This site presents my art created during a thirty year long landscape painting phase that ended in 2017. Staley paints exclusively on site. He chooses scenes that will leave distinct and lasting impressions. His passion is to capture the honest essence of a particular location. Staley’s acute attention to detail suspends nuances of color that tell the story through the artist’s eye. Close examination exposes subtle manipulation of paint that enriches each image. Staley prefers views that move gradually into the distance, leading to places beyond. He favors sites where nature and man converge to settle into a balanced harmony, often near water.

Staley received a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Wright State University in 1980, and a Masters of Arts in Art Education from Miami University in 1985. He went on to teach art in the public schools, using summer months to do extensive landscape paintings. His art has been exhibited in national and regional level exhibitions throughout the United States.
